Beneath the Surface Hair Edition
Beneath the Surface Hair Edition! SO I wanted to share with you guys a little progression of my hair color and what my current hair routine is to hopefully keep my hair as healthy as possible.
To give you a little background of myself – I have always had long straight dark brown {almost black} hair. I’ve played around a little bit with caramel or honey highlights. But for the most part I’ve stayed pretty boring in the hair department. I refuse to cut my hair or do any major changes there… SO when I started getting the itch to change my look – color was really the only way I could go!
I guess it started off in my 30’s where I started wanting to change things up. I tried out the Cherry Cola look… basically very dark black with some dark red tone/highlights. And THAT style got me hooked on RED! From there I started going towards brighter more vibrant shades of red. Eventually I was bright Ariel mermaid red! I loved the color and it was SO much fun! But the maintenance was insane! My dark roots would grow back so quickly and I found myself at the salon ALL. THE. TIME!!
Here’s a little bit of how my hair transformation went…
and now this
SO – what I wanted to get to in this post is what I’m currently using and doing to care for my now BLONDE hair and really get beneath the surface hair wise!
Beneath the Surface
As you know, the theme of this blog is about getting beneath the surface. This post in particular will bebgetting beneath the surface hair edition SO often we miss out on things because we stay at surface level. We do the bare minimums to get by. We say the bare minimums to get to know someone. We sandbag our workouts and never really PUSH ourselves to another level. We just “get by” in our nutrition because we don’t ever really learn everything about food and what our bodies need…… AND same for hair!! We just use the same old same old stuff from the toiletry aisle at the grocery store {or maybe target} and wonder why our hair isn’t improving?!!
Why You Need to Get Beneath the Surface with your Hair Care
So here’s the scoop!! If you’re changing up your hair color and doing treatments regularly you need to be sure you’re taking good care of your scalp and hair! I’m not going to get all technical and scienc-y with you – BUT when you process your hair it STRESSES out your strands. Just like your body or your feelings/emotions – it needs some after care to get it to calm down and come out of its stressed state. It needs the proper care and nutrients. That comes from a good diet {This shake has a powerhouse of ingredients that has helped tremendously with my hair & nails!} AND good products! I’m going to share below what I am currently using!
Current Products I’m Using for my Beneath the Surface Hair Care
Redken pH-Bonder System
This is a Redken system my stylist suggested to me. She used the first two steps in the pH-Bonder system during my lightening treatment…. The pH-Bonder is a unique synergistic system that helps protect bonds and reduce breakage during technical services (such as bleach and hair color). The third step in the system is an at home pre-shampoo treatment that you use once a week.
Monat Shampoo & Conditioner
I am in my first month of using Monat products as my regular shampoo/conditioner haircare. As you all know, I am a police wife and also in the field of network marketing. I LOVE supporting other police wives who are promoting a business or product that they’re passionate about. I met Erin Jones thru social media and she helped me design a hair care regiment for my hair issues 🙂
I am currently using the Monat Black Shampoo & Conditioner as well as the RENEW Shampoo and Revitalize Conditioner.
Monat’s products are naturally-based, safe, pure and sustainable….which is why I chose these!
Moroccan Oil
I use this oil on the ends of my hair most every day. I don’t really know if it does anything – but I like it! It smells amazing!! My stylist told me I should be using oil on my ends to help repair and de-stress the ends.
There you have it!! Thats my current hair care routine!! Who knows how long I’ll be staying blonde – BUT what I do know is that if you’re gonna mess around with your color you’ve got to be sure you’re caring your hair and getting beneath the surface!
What are your favorite hair care products??
